About 300 fifth graders in Anoka-Hennepin elementary schools participated in Art Discovery Day at the Andover Community Center. The young artists each spent three hours over one day creating artwork with various types of material.

HerbStock celebrated the music and memories of Herb Brooks, USA Hockey, University of Minnesota Hockey and the 1980 Olympics Miracle on Ice.
Net proceeds from the Friday, Sept. 9, outdoor fund-raising event and concert at the National Sports Center in Blaine will benefit the Herb Brooks Foundation, whose mission is to grow the game of hockey and give kids a positive hockey and life experiences. A number of sports-related items were auctioned off during the fund-raiser, including hockey sticks and a movie poster.

Blaine-based plane departs for National Air Races in Reno
